It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
